28 Product Announcements for NAB09
April 6, 2009, Grass Valley, CA – Ensemble Designs today announced that it will introduce the 4500 MPEG Transport Stream Processor for translating DVB-ASI to SMPTE 310M in broadcast and satellite applications. The MPEG Transport Stream Processor and 27 other announcements will be highlighted at booth #N4023 at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention held April 20-24 in Las Vegas.
Ensemble’s New LevelTrack™ Audio AGC corrects mismatched audio levels between different program sources or segments within a program. Errors of this type are regrettably common due to inconsistencies between different providers and program
elements. Based upon the history in each channel, gradual changes are applied to prevent the audio level from dropping below or exceeding user programmable thresholds. By adjusting the overall level of the signal, rather than masking the errors with compression, LevelTrack will not upset the internal dynamics of the program material. LevelTrack™ is useful in broadcast and satellite applications.
Transmission facilities often have both 310M and ASI signals and need a way to convert and monitor those streams. The new 4500 MPEG Transport Stream Processor translates DVB-ASI to SMPTE 310M or translates 310M to ASI. The 4500’s stream content analyzer verifies signal health by evaluating Signal Presence, Program Packets, PMT, PAT and PIDs. The reference input is used to synchronize the output bitstream.
With so many broadcasters and video facilities still dealing with analog signals, the Avenue 5360 and 5365 offers a convenient way to convert four channels of analog video and audio to four streams of SD SDI with embedded audio. This is a perfect solution for satellite installations that need to feed a large number of analog signals from IRDs into a monitor wall. Use these modules with routers, switchers, remote trucks or any application that requires many channels of high quality video and conversion. The optional TBC allows for ingest of noisy or unstable sources.
For broadcasters looking to future-proof their facilities, the 9400 3G Signal Generator and Test Signal Generator offers every signal needed for a complete house reference system. 3 Gb/s and 1.5 Gb/s HD SDI, SD SDI, analog composite, HD Tri-Level Sync, timecode, AES audio and analog audio reference outputs are generated. It provides the most types of simultaneous outputs of any TSG available. New closed caption test signals help broadcaster trouble shoot closed caption data carriage through a signal chain. The built-in memory card allows creation of custom test patterns and audio clips.
For the ultimate in precision reference, the 7400-GPS option can be used with the 9400 3G/HD/SD SPG and TSG module. It’s a reliable timing source that is well-suited for local reference generation in broadcast, remote trucks and post.
A new HD Bypass Protection Switch, Avenue 7160, protects critical transmission broadcast and transmission feeds at an affordable price. This smart switch checks for closed caption data, TRS, audio, black and frozen video. With on-air accountability so critical these days, a switch like this can really pay for itself in no time.
Other products on display will include new Avenue HD/SD/3G electrical and optical converters, HD/SD/3G distribution amplifiers, and an HD video protection switch used for critical feeds in satellite and broadcast.
