Ensemble Designs NXT Encoders Stream with Wowza
GRASS VALLEY, CA, 14 July 2016 – Ensemble Designs, manufacturer of Video and Audio Routing, Processing, Display, and Effects Systems, demonstrates live Web Streaming in partnership with Wowza Media Server and Online Streaming Service at IBC 2016 in Amsterdam.
With the addition of RTMP to the NXT 450 and 445, users can now stream directly to both the Wowza enterprise and cloud systems. A new UI in the NXT web-based control system makes it easy to enter the Wowza authentication credentials. Once the credentials are entered, a connection is established and live streaming commences. The NXT continuously monitors the health of the connection through the messaging mechanism in RTMP and displays status in the UI.
The Wowza enterprise solution, Media Server, provides automatic rate and resolution management for each viewer connected locally. The Wowza cloud-based Online Streaming Service provides that same service with global reach to all viewers.
These NXT Encoders combine SD/HD SDI inputs with high performance H.264 (MPEG-4) encoding. Format agile Clean Switches provide mix/cut transitions between sources into the Encoder and from there directly to the web. Hardware based format conversion makes it easy to deliver the most suitable resolution format and frame rate for the streaming application – regardless of the source material. It’s an integrated solution requiring no other support equipment or local servers.
The RTMP feature is implemented in one of the two Unicast output paths. So in addition to live web streaming, the NXT Encoder can still deliver Unicast by UDP or RTP to a second destination, or by DVB-ASI to digital transmission systems.
Control over the switching and configuration of the NXT products is available from the front panel, the remote Action Panel, and through web and serial interfaces. The web interface provides operators with live thumbnail views of all of the connected sources.
The flexibility and choice of signal types is enhanced by two SFP interfaces which can provide fiber, HDMI, analog, or additional SDI connections.
At only 1/3 of a rack unit, the NXT 450 offers an unprecedented level of feature integration in a remarkably small package. This makes it a great choice for portable systems, boardroom, news trucks and helicoptors, remote studios, and distant backhaul.
