GlobeCast, CVE, and Ensemble Team Up for World Class, Multi Channel Coverage of the 2012 Summer Games
Grass Valley, California, 7 November, 2012 – In planning its coverage of the 2012 Summer Games, the most important DTH broadcaster in Italy selected GlobeCast, a leading supplier of video transport services, to deliver multiple channels of HD video from London to Milan. GlobeCast in turn partnered with Communication Video Engineering (CVE), a leading systems engineering company in Italy, to design and build a sophisticated signal management system. As Ensemble’s Italian sales representative, CVE relied on Ensemble to provide video distribution and processing equipment for this high-profile project.
The Ensemble equipment was used to process and manage 14 pairs of redundant HD feeds that GlobeCast delivered to the broadcaster’s technical center in Milan. A total of 63 Avenue modules were used to process and switch incoming feeds. Modules included 9550 Video Processing Frame Synchronizers, 7465 Changeover Switches, and 7925 Dual HD Downconverters. In addition, 3 Mitto Scan Converters were used to deliver multi-picture monitor return feeds to London.
