Flexible Matrix Router Lands Top Awards
Ensemble Designs wins
TV Technology’s NAB Star Award and
Broadcast Engineering’s Pick Hit Award at NAB.
Thursday, April 21, 2011, Grass Vally, CA – Nevada City video equipment manufacturer Ensemble Designs was honored with two industry awards for its new Avenue Router Control during a recent convention.
Ensemble received both the TV Technology and Broadcast Engineering awards at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas earlier this month. Both awards were presented for Ensemble’s new Avenue flexible matrix video router, which is used in broadcast television stations and high-end video facilities.
Unlike any other router, the Avenue has a little screen on the front panel that lets users see the content on each channel of information, both input and output. That lets the person check material more easily before it goes on air.
Also, most small routers have a fixed number of input and output ports and are not expandable. But the Avenue lets users easily customize the unit for the exact number of ports needed.
Third, the Avenue offers a “clean switch,” with technology that lets broadcasters match the frames of video when switching from one source to another.
Those features earned the Avenue TV Technology Magazine’s coveted STAR Award — or Superior Technology Award Recipient — for preeminent technological innovations in the media industry.
A judging panel of broadcast industry experts reviewed a variety of products and services, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then submitted their award nominees.
“Our panel of editors walked the show floor in search of the most innovative technologies,” said TV Technology Editor-in-Chief Tom Butts.
“The products and services that we selected for the STAR Award … demonstrated their ability to help advance the acquisition and distribution of entertainment and information across the media spectrum.”
Broadcast Engineering also made Ensemble Designs a Pick Hits Award winner. Pick Hits are the most prestigious technical awards given at the NAB Show.
A panel of independent judges toured the show floor for three days, looking for innovative products and technology. The judges then met to make their selections based on several criteria, including the technical and financial improvements the products can bring to a facility’s operation. Editors and publishers have no vote in the selection process.
“Our new router was a hit at the show,” said Ensemble Director of Sales Mondae Hott. “We have engineers from top TV stations all over the world in our booth for detailed, technical demos.”
