BrightEye NXT 400-Series Release Notes

Release History for the BrightEye NXT 400 Series Routers. This includes BrightEye NXT 410, 410-H, 415, 430, 430-X, 445, and 450.

3.3.1 – October 08 2018

1. New Firmware code to correct play and hold logo playback
2. Corrections for timing in 1080P50, 59, and 60 formats.
3. Repaired code that allows the TSM to update correctly.

3.3.0 – July 18 2018

3.2.0 – 6 December 2017

Version 3.2 is a significant release for the BrightEye NXT 400 Series Routers. It includes new features and important bug fixes.

All BrightEye NXT 400 Series.

  • SNMP Control and Monitoring. Use SNMP management tools to monitor and control your BrightEye NXT devices.
  • Improved Action authoring. Create more sophisticated Actions with delays between Action Steps. Reorder steps with ease.
  • Increased number of Salvos from 8 to 10.
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements.

Improvements to Scaling Clean Switch (BrightEye NXT 410-H, 430-X, 445, 450)

  • Logo Inserter added. Each Scaling Clean Switch can now act as a Logo Inserter, keying your custom logos over video content.
  • Dual Multimage License now available.

  • Selectable EDID to allow selection of Dolby or PCM audio input.

BrightEye NXT 445, 450

  • Media Interface network link status is now reported via the WebUI.

Version 3.1 is a significant release for the BrightEye NXT 400 Series Routers. It includes new features and important bug fixes.

  • Improved Profile Editing
  • Added Cross Hatch pattern to Test Signal Generators.
  • Resolved some problems with system startup in poor power situations.

Improvements to Clean Switch (BrightEye NXT 410, 410-H, 430, 430-X, 445, 450)

  • Support for closed captions.
  • Support for 708 closed caption translation between 720p and 1080i.

  • Now supports “film” rates: 23.98, 24, 24sF

  • Improved behavior when handling compressed audio on HDMI.

  • New “Stream Bitrate” indicator shows the bandwidth required for the video + audio stream.
  • Improvements to stream rate, previously we were putting in too much stream overhead. ~1Mbit average decrease.
  • 512kbit AAC Audio now properly supported.

3.0.4 – 30 June 2016

Version 3.0.4 was a bug-fix release for the BrightEye NXT 445 and 450 only.

  • Resolved issue with occasional failure of Media Port on startup.
  • Now provides a diagnostic interface for media port.
  • Decoder controls now disable properly on BrightEye NXT 445 when decoder license is not available.

3.0.3 – 9 June 2016

Version 3.0.3 was a bug-fix release for the BrightEye NXT 400 Series Routers.

All BrightEye NXT 400 Series Routers.

  • DVB-ASI, SMPTE 310M, and AES signals are indicated better on the front panel display.
  • Settings file saves in Firefox now have the correct filename.
  • Salvo capture of current routes now works regardless of whether the Salvo is enabled.
  • Feature licenses are no longer overwritten with a settings restore, making it so that settings can be moved from one unit to another without disturbing licenses.

Clean Switch with Up/Down/Cross Conversion (NXT 410-H, 430-X, 445, and 450)

  • DualPath and PiP-Efx inputs and outputs are now available in Salvos.
  • Fixed problems with default values and adjustment of Salvo mix duration.

BrightEye NXT 445, 450

  • Fixed problem where encoder would stop if no network attached to Media port when configured for DHCP.
  • Fixed problem when 59.94Hz inputs were being encoded at 60Hz in some cases.

3.0.2 – 5 May 2016

Version 3.0.2 was a bug-fix release for the BrightEye NXT 400 Series Routers. It resolved issues in the WebUI, improved update reliability, and resolved a system reboot issue.

3.0.0 – 13 April 2016

Version 3.0 was a big release for the BrightEye NXT 400 Series Routers. It added significant new features, improved performance, and fixed many outstanding issues.

MPEG Encoding & Decoding

  1. Adds support for CEA 708 Closed Captions in both Encoding and Decoding.
  2. Adds support for AAC Audio Encoding.
  3. Adds support for UDP protocol for all streaming inputs and outputs. This is in addition to existing RTP support. RTP continues to be the recommended method when possible.
  4. Adds RTMP streaming protocol to Unicast A to support Content Delivery Networks (CDN). Web UI provides status indication of connection to CDN.
  5. Adds Decoder Status information to Web UI.
  6. Corrects bug in how choice of Static vs. DHCP IP addressing for Media port is managed in the Web UI.

Pip-Efx & DualPath

BrightEye NXT 410-H, 430-X, 445, and 450

  1. Original software license for PiP-Efx is now called MultiImage License. Existing PiP-Efx licenses will continue to work as MultiImage License. The new MultiImage License supports both PiP-Efx and DualPath.
  2. Adds DualPath Tx (Multiplexing).
  3. Adds DualPath Rx (Demultiplexing).
  4. One Hour ‘demo mode’ for PiP-Efx and DualPath. Normal operation requires MultiImage License.

Up/Down/Cross Converting Clean Switches

BrightEye NXT 410-H, 430-X, 445, and 450

  1. Added support to cleanly switch Dolby D & E audio content.
  2. 1080sF input to all output formats: 1080i, 1080p, 720p, SD, etc.

General Features and Improvements

All BrightEye NXT 400 Series Routers.

  1. Adds new commands to TCP/IP External Control interfaces:
    • Recall Actions
    • Execute Crosspoint Salvos
    • Control specific features in Encoding and Streaming (445 and 450)
  2. Refresh speed of Web UI thumbnails is doubled. The thumbnail images (proxies) of Sources and Destinations in the web interface are now updated twice as fast.
  3. DVB-ASI and AES signals detected and identified in thumbnail displays on both Web and front panel.
  4. General improvements in Web UI:
    • The Web interface is now faster and more responsive.
    • Fixes error in PiP-Efx control under FireFox web browser.
    • Fixed data windows that were too narrow in some browsers.
  5. Improvements in operation of front panel controls.
  6. Fixed bug where editing TSG 1 text string could corrupt TSG 2.
